Baptism

In the growth and life of a new Christian believer, an important step of obedience to Jesus Christ is to be baptised in water.

A ‘born again’ believer has put their faith and trust in God through the finished work of Jesus Christ ~ His death, His resurrection and His return to Heaven, with the hope we have that one day He will return for those who trust Him!

We believe that the next step is to be baptised, by full immersion in water, with the understanding that it's in obedience to what Jesus Christ taught us 'to believe and be baptised' (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).

In this celebratory occasion, family and friends can come to hear and witness to what God has done in the new Christian person's life, and that person can testify to those present that they identify with what Jesus did for them. Please note that this occasion is different from ‘infant baptism’.

By being immersed in water, the believer outwardly confesses that Jesus died on the cross and was buried for them. As they come back up out of the water, they testify that they’ve left their old (sinful) life behind, and have begun a new life in Christ who was raised from the dead. They celebrate having a new hope, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, they will live a renewed life!
