Music Ministry

RLC has a creative and vibrant Music Ministry led by Althea (Thea) Wray as 'Music Director'.
The band members (8 and growing in number) are talented musicians who help to lead the main services through their instrumental and sung worship and praise songs/hymns. Although we are capable in playing traditional songs/hymns, which we revisit from time to time, we love nothing better, through regular rehearsals, than to learn and bring many of the more contemporary songs and hymns we believe the Holy Spirit has anointed writers
to produce.
In more recent years, these have helped us to lead our congregations to enter into the precious presence of God/Heavenly Father. If you come and visit, you may find us playing/singing well known songs/hymns with Jazz, Calypso, and Reggae riffs and beats!
You will possibly hear us playing and singing outside on the steps at the front of church. We aim to do so on the first Sunday of the month (but less likely during really cold months!).
Many of the band members not only want to better their own skills, but have a desire to share their talent by tutoring the youth who want to explore music and those who are serious to practice, and to help cultivate in them a heart for worship. It's great to see young singers and instrumentalists taking a lead in Junior Choir pieces or solos parts.
Thea (as a singer/song writer in her own right) has encouraged many, both younger people and the older, to write their own songs/hymns of praise.
She has established 'RLC Community Gospel Choir', who have a lot of fun and build friendships whilst learning new songs and occasionally performing. They meet Thursday evenings from 7.45pm. Get in touch with Thea if you are interested via our 'Contact Us' page.
We love having an event to work hard towards. We have been involved in many events and productions both in-house and for other outside events.
Thea Wray, and her husband Kingsley, have both written and published a lot of their own music. Visit their website www.wateriiwine.org to find out more.
